he, the other man

The car drove through the driveway and stopped in front of the cottage. He looked through the blinds in the cottage. A man stepped out, walked up to the front door, hesitated at the door for a moment and finally knocked. He opened the door.

The man said "hi, I'm Max."

He pondered for a moment and said "I'm the other man."

And the man with tears welding up in his eyes replied "I know. She died."

Both men stood at door, looking at each other as the sun sets and the sky turning from orange hue to the dark night sky.
